May 31, 2026 – Massively upgraded the search today, give it a shot (top right blue button). I’m also upgrading the readability on all pages; this includes increasing font size, linking to individual streaming sites (instead of relying on shady third parties) and increasing artwork size. Just finished updating the last 1955 album tonight and am moving into 1956. While that work is going on I’m also constantly increasing the amount of reviews I have in my local database, which will make my job easier when I get back into the groove of adding albums to the site. Thanks for your patience as 2026 flies by.

November 28, 2025 – I talked to KMHD radio here in Portland about the site. It aired today, and you can hear the six minute conversation here: The Jazz Tome on KMHD.

September 23, 2025 – Reached one million words in August. I should also point out that the site has had over a thousand visitors every month this year, capping out at 1,400 in August. Thank you for getting the word out.

April 15, 2025 – Had promotional cards made for the site, once again featuring the work of Tim Foley. Current stats are 528 albums, 965,204 words. Feels like I’m falling into a rhythm of about an album a week.

August 27, 2024 – Happy to announce that I’m adding videos from Ten-Minute Record Reviews to my album pages. Allan does his research and packs a bunch of great information into a tidy amount of time. I am grateful to be able to present modern criticism and historical context to my pages for folks as I believe that’s just as important as writeups from the time of release. 

August 01, 2023 – Two milestones this week. The website passed 5,000 views and 500,000 words. Not bad for the first six months! Thank you for coming by.

July 20, 2023 – The 300th album on the website is Brew Moore – The Brew Moore Quintet. The album cover is a gothic, almost Lovecraftian nightmare. I love it. This website now contains 457,828 words. 

May 20, 2023 – Thrilled to announce that my friend Tim Foley (of Tim Foley Illustrations) has has agreed to create original artwork for the website. You’ll see his work on the homepage in the artist and author sections
